Nikau Hill Nursery & Water Gardens

Visit Doreen & Derek Higginson's boutique nursery and water gardens.

There are twenty four varieties of water lilies, bog plants, aquatica, wetland plants and grasses, shrubs, trees, natives, succulents and perennials.

Free entry to garden. Tours $3pp.

Westoe Gardens is part of the NZ agriculture association.

This park like & woodland garden features many native trees. Very sheltered old river terrace.

Morning teas can be catered with prior notice. Groups are able to bring packed lunches, and can have lunch in the picnic area.

The Ridges Country Garden

Featured in many publications all over the world, The Ridges is an old country garden set on a terrace above the Rangitikei River.

A sheltered environment for rhododendrons, maples, lilies and hostas. You will take in a stunning view of the Ruahine Ranges, native bush and surrounding countryside. $10 pp.

Waitoka Gardens are large country gardens located just 20 kilometres west of Taihape.

At 670 metres above sea-level, the Waitoka homestead looks out over the surrounding hill country.

To the east are spectacular views of the Ruahine Ranges, while the peak of Mount Ruapehu rises in the north.

On a clear day, you can even catch a glimpse of Mount Taranaki in the west.
